Week Eight: Forgiveness

For-give-ness, sometimes we have to break apart a word to get to the meaning. Jesus was the greatest giver of all time. He gave to the max, he gave the utimate, he gave his life. This week we will study what it is to give. Forgiveness is giving. It is giving a free gift to someone that may not deserve it and unforgiveness is not giving. Jesus teaches only to give. Our actions show our heart. We have a hard heart when we can't forgive and because of this we cannot and will not receive forgiveness when we ask. Are you a giver? Read the following passages and try to recall them as we study today:

Are you a giver?

Galatians 6:7,8 reads “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows(gives) that shall he also reap(receive). For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the spirit shall of the spirit reap life everlasting.”

2Corinthians 9:6 reads “But this I say, He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”

Response of self control

It is extreemely important that all through life we excersize self control when it comes to forgiving and walking in love. We may not always "feel" like forgiving others, but it is required that we do. When we fail to forgive others our unforgiveness grows and turns to bitterness and anger that when it is left unchecked can lead to far more serious acts.
